Broadening the Convergent Horizon-
Convergent ties up with Lucent Technologies
We have recently concluded an agreement with Lucent
Technologies to offer WAN solutions based on leading edge products on Lucent. Lucent is a
world leader in RAS products, DSL products, and ATM products. With this tie up Convergent
Communications now provide a comprehensive range of WAN products. Following are the Lucent

Lucent - a brief Introduction:
Lucent delivers a wide range of leading edge communications networks—including
Internet, e-business, wireless, optical, data and voice—from its broad networking
portfolio.
Lucent has many firsts to its credits. It was the first company to bring DWDM (Dense Wave
Division Multiplexing) optical networking equipment to market in 1995, and has since
shipped more systems than anyone else in the world. In another world's first, Lucent
developed and introduced the industry's only high capacity, high-speed all-optical switch,
known as the WaveStar LambdaRouter.
Lucent is a world leader in the high-growth areas of the communications networking market.
It holds leadership positions in markets and technologies such as voice over Internet
protocol (VoIP), remote access, symmetric digital subscriber line (SDSL), optical
networking, CDMA (code-division multiple access), ATM access and core and edge switching,
frame relay, multi-service WAN switching, and networking services and support. Lucent's
data networking equipment connects three-fourths of all Internet users each day.
MD's Message on Lucent tie-up
As the business turns more and more competitive, we at Convergent are focussed on leading
the field of Convergence by becoming a one-stop shop for networking products and solutions
in India. Accordingly, we have entered into a strategic tie up with Lucent Technologies to
offer a widened range of networking products to our customers. We will be distributing the
Lucent products and we will also provide networking solutions based on them. Lucent will
add to our existing range of Motorola networking products.
Our tie up with Lucent will prove beneficial especially to the customers in SOHO and SME
segments as we deal in Lucent’s low end ISDN Routers, pipeline products such as
pipeline 50, 85, and 155, security products and RAS products. The ISDN products from
Lucent offer a unique advantage to customers because they have a built in firewall. This
enables the customers to have secure ISDN access. Convergent will have a fully trained
team of engineers to support its customers. Convergent will offer complete suite of
Network Services to all its customers with a service network spanning across 14 cities in
the country.
